James talks to Dr Mark Dennis about management of heart failure on the wards.
Dr Mark Dennis is a current second year cardiology advance trainee at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He has a strong interest in acute cardiology, cardiovascular imaging, critical care medicine as well as general clinical medicine. He is the lead author of the text Mechanisms of Clinical signs, of which the second edition is due out this year and is currently completing research into the use of ECMO and its use in cardiac arrests, facilitated PCI and its anticoagulation amongst other projects.

It is useful for the junior doctor to think about patients with heart failure as either acutely decompensated or with longstanding heart failure but not particularly unwell.
